The correct use of the oven
Learn the basics about ovens. Before using a gas oven or any kind of oven, you must read the instruction manual carefully. Each oven is equipped with a grill. Before using the oven, it is recommended that you try to pull out the grill and put it back in. Use a thermometer dedicated to the oven. The temperature of a gas oven is often unstable. Maybe you have to adjust the temperature slightly higher or lower while using the oven.
Know the temperature of the oven through the indicator light. Frequent opening of the oven door during baking will cause the internal temperature to drop suddenly.
Rotate the baking tray during baking. The temperature of the gas oven is unstable. The temperature in some places in the oven will rise higher, and the temperature in some places will be lower. Therefore, if you open the oven door from time to time and turn the bakeware a few degrees, the heat received by the food will be more even.
When baking cakes, breads, muffin cakes and other foods, you have to turn the baking pan 90° after half the time has passed. When baking biscuits, if there are baking trays on several racks in the oven, swap the positions of the upper and lower baking trays.
The roasting pan of the stew needs to be turned several times during the roasting process, but only one turn each time.
Place baking slabs on the bottom of the oven. The baking slab can be used when baking foods such as pizza and desserts. In addition, the slate has another function, which is to adjust the temperature of the gas oven. Baked slate can radiate heat upward in a more uniform manner. When not in use, place the slate on the bottom of the oven or on the bottom grill. When using, place the food on top of the stone slab to heat the food more evenly.
If you want to brown the surface of the food even more, move the food up a bit. Sometimes, it is difficult to burn the surface of food such as pies to brown with a gas oven. If you move the food to the upper grill, the food will turn yellow faster.
If you want to roast the food more crispy, increase the temperature. The air humidity in the gas oven is higher, so the cooked food is not very crisp. If you want to bake crispy French fries in a gas oven, the difficulty will be higher. If the temperature of the oven is increased by 25°C on the basis of the prescribed temperature in the recipe, the result will be different-the food will be roasted more crispy.
Do not use dark metal kitchen utensils. Never use dark metal containers in a gas oven. The heat source in a gas oven is located at the bottom of the oven. Dark metal containers absorb heat faster, causing the bottom of the food to be scorched.
Therefore, light-colored metal, glass or silicone containers are more suitable for use in gas ovens.
Q: My oven has three layers. Which one do I usually use?
A: Generally speaking, the middle layer of the oven is used for baking. If the oven has double layers (such as 4 or 6 layers), it is recommended to use the lower middle layer for baking. The basic purpose is to keep the food at the same distance from the upper and lower heating pipes to ensure that the upper and lower heating pipes are evenly heated.
Q: My oven has three layers. Can the three layers be baked together?
A: Baking in multiple layers together is not good for most small desktop ovens, even if the hot air function is turned on. Because the heat cycle in the small desktop oven is not sufficient, it is difficult to ensure that each layer can be evenly heated and cooked. A: The temperature rise of the oven depends on the work of the heating tube. Some heating tubes will turn red when they heat up, and once they reach a preset temperature, the heating tubes will stop working for a period of time, so the surface will return to the original black color due to cooling. If the temperature of the oven drops later, the heating tube will work again and become red and hot. So these are all normal phenomena.
Q: My oven makes a loud noise occasionally during use, is it normal?
A: Don't worry, these are normal! Due to thermal expansion and contraction, the outer shell of the oven may occasionally make a sound due to expansion. It is not that the oven is going to be broken, it is normal!
Q: The biscuits baked in my oven are always dark in color and light in color. Is the quality of the oven bad?
A: Uneven baking color is a common problem in small ovens, as long as it is not too serious, it is normal. If you observe uneven coloring of the food in the later stage of baking, you can take out the bakeware, quickly turn the direction and put it in again. Of course, it is recommended that you buy a better quality oven with more uniform coloring at the beginning.
